This is Birdie’s story.
In 2022 we felt called by God to sell our home in Illinois to become a missionary family. We spent a year traveling with our then four children. We returned to the states in March 2023 with the plan to fundraise for missions and move as long term missionaries to Albania. The week we got back to the states we found out I was pregnant. It was unexpected, but full of excitement that God would entrust us with another little heart and soul to love and point to Jesus. It is an honor to raise our kids for kingdom impact.

We decided to stay in FL surrounded by family to have our baby. We didn’t know it then, but this was the absolute best decision because we would need them more than ever. On November 17, 2023 Birdie celebrated her birthday. She was born with breathing complications that led to severe neurological effects. Birdie spent a month in the NICU where we experienced the tender heart of God’s faithfulness like never before in our lives.

Birdie is our little breathing miracle that keeps blowing everyone away with her miraculous progress. We have a wonderful care team that has been treating Birdie to give her the best chance at milestone success. Part of this care team has been an OT specialist that has incorporated reflex therapy. In May, Birdie will be attending a five day treatment intensive that focuses on this reflex therapy as a way to stimulate and create pathways in the brain needed for development. Birdie will be seen by the best specialists in reflex therapy and given a home plan to continue with after the intensive.
